Clinical Management of HIV Online Course

In-depth training on the clinical management of HIV for clinicians via a flexible and resource-saving online platform

Important information!

The Clinical Management of HIV Online Course will not be accessible August – October 2018 due to updates.

The scale of the HIV/AIDS challenge in Eastern Europe and Central Asia is significant. That is why EACS is working in collaboration with WHO Europe to deliver a much-needed online course on the clinical management of HIV. The innovative capacity-building platform for health care professionals was launched in 2016.

In 2018, the Clinical Management of HIV Online Course will be updated in order to reflect the latest scientific discoveries and changes in international guidelines. The course will include a stand-alone module on PrEP and a new module on Optimization of ART programmes.

The Clinical Management of HIV Online Course, led by Prof. Jens D. Lundgren and Prof. Manuel Battegay, is an online, flexible, open access course. It is available to anyone who wishes to participate, free of charge, but is especially aimed at clinicians in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Available in both Russian and English, the course will provide an in-depth understanding of the scope and manifestations of HIV-related diseases, their prevention, management, and care. Special emphasis will be placed on co-infections and co-morbidities as well as state-of-the-art treatment of HIV according to international guidelines from EACS and WHO.

The course consists of 8 modules, each containing various subtopics and developed by experts in the field of HIV. Participants will be asked to answer a couple of short questions at the end of each topic. The online learning activities will comprise a mix of discussions, multiple-choice tests, video lectures, case studies or other activating elements.

This online model promotes more flexibility than a traditional face-to-face approach as participants can join in when their schedule allows and select the modules in the order they desire. Participants should plan on spending 1 to 1½ hours per subtopic. Russian and English subtitles will be available for video lectures, while other course materials will be available in English.
