Version 7.1: Summary of changes
For the ART section
- Addition of DTG with ABC+3TC or TDF+FTC to the first line combination treatment recommendations
- Change of alternative treatment combination recommendations to include DRV/r + RAL (if CD4 count> 200 cells/mmc and VL < 100.000 copies/mL) and LPV/r + 3TC, and exclusion of older drugs as ddI, SQV and FPV as recommended alternative components
- Considerations of treating all cases of acute HIV infection, preferably in the context of a clinical trial
- Addition of LPV/r+3TC and ATV/r+3TC as possible switch strategy options for virologically suppressed persons with a comment that these are probably better options than monotherapy with LPV/r or DRV/r
For the Co-morbidity section
- All adverse events and drug-drug interaction tables were updated and include information on DTG and EVG + COBI
- The CVD and hypertension diagnosis and treatment indication algorithms were updated with new treatment limits
For the Co-infection section
The recommendations on HCV care were updated to include
- Interferon-free DAA combinations to be considered standard of care for chronic HCV
- 2 new tables summarizing current interferon-containing and –free treatment options have been included, and will be updated again shortly to reflect the licensing of 2 additional DAA combinations
- A table summarizing the current PK data on DAA and ARV was included and careful checking for drug interactions is urgently recommended prior to starting HCV therapy due to drug-drug interactions (in particular HIV and HCV PIs)
For the opportunistic infection section
- Revision of primary- and secondary prophylaxis and treatment for all OIs
- Expansion of the TB section
- Addition of Leishmaniasis care information
