EACS Endorses HIV Advanced Training Forum 2025 in Romania

The HIV Advanced Training Forum is a two-day course organised on 10–11 June 2025 in Sinaia, Romania, through the collaboration of leading academic and clinical institutions across Europe. Endorsed by the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) and available by invitation only, the course is designed to equip early-career healthcare professionals with practical, patient-centred strategies for long-term HIV care.

Through a comprehensive curriculum covering the latest developments in HIV management, coinfection integration, resistance understanding, and prevention, the course emphasises translating scientific knowledge into real-world clinical practice. With a strong focus on the patient journey—from diagnosis to lifelong health and quality of life—it also highlights the critical role of vaccination and tailored interventions for key populations.

Participants will gain valuable insights from an international faculty composed of leading European HIV experts, promoting a holistic and evidence-based approach to contemporary HIV care.

Now available: educational video on HIV and Menopause!

EACS WAVE (Women Against Viruses in Europe) has created the educational video and accompanying factsheet “Transitioning through Menopause with HIV” to support women and healthcare professionals.

More women with HIV are reaching menopause, but awareness of symptoms and appropriate care remains limited. This can lead to missed diagnoses and untreated health issues such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and depression.

Read the factsheet and watch the video to learn more.

Join the EACS Live! Journal Club on HIV-1 drug resistance to Integrase Strand Transfer Inhibitors (INSTIs)

Monday, 21 May 2025

14:00-15:00 CEST

The next EACS Live! Journal Club will take place on Wednesday, 21 May at 14:00 CEST and will focus on HIV-1 drug resistance to Integrase Strand Transfer Inhibitors (INSTIs).

Integrase Strand Transfer Inhibitors (INSTIs) are now considered a cornerstone of combination antiretroviral therapy. Resistance to INSTIs in HIV treatment is relatively uncommon, particularly with the use of second-generation agents, but can occur. In this Journal Club we will discuss the resistance patterns during second-generation INSTI failure and the risk factors for developing resistance. Special focus will be given to dolutegravir resistance due to its widespread use as a first-line antiretroviral agent globally.

On International Women’s Day 2025, we would like to highlight the impact of WAVE (Women Against Viruses in Europe) in advancing women’s health, particularly for those living with HIV. Since 2018, WAVE has worked to bridge research gaps, provide expert guidance, and advocate for better healcare standards. Through research, education, and collaboration with NGOs and community representatives, we strive to ensure that all women receive equitable and high-quality care.

This year, WAVE continues its efforts to address key challenges in migrant women’s health, women in Ukraine, HPV screening, breastfeeding, menopause and ageing.

On this International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our dedication to a future where every woman has access to the care and support she deserves.
