EACS Meeting Standard of Care for HIV and COINFECTIONS in EUROPE
The European AIDS Clinical Society announces with great pleasure the EACS Meeting on Standard of Care for HIV and coinfections in Europe, organized in Rome on November 25-26.

This meeting provides a unique opportunity to share data and dialogue beween leading clinicians and researchers from Europe with all those involved in AIDS and liver disease care.

This meeting is organized in collaboration with the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Health.

The European AIDS Clinical Society is holding a symposium on the European Guidelines at the 7th International Francophone Conference on HIV/Hepatitis AFRAVIH 2014, April 27 to 30, 2014 at the Corum in Montpellier, France.

With their focus on bedside care and clinical practice, the EACS guidelines have become very successful and respected beyond Europe. The Society wishes to appoint additional members to the above panels.

The application deadline is April 21, 2014.

Up to 25 complementary registrations have been made available to EACS members to attend the 4th International Conference on Viral Hepatitis (ICVH), which will take place on March 17-18, 2014, at Fordham University (Lincoln Center) in New York, NY. If you are interested in attending the conference and wish to take up the offer of free registration, please reply to this mail with your name, affiliation and contact details by January 24 17:00 CET. We will then send you a registration code. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. After January 24, any remaining complimentary registrations will be posted on the EACS website and open to all EACS members.

The conference is jointly sponsored by the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in partnership with the International Association for the Study of Liver (IASL). The conference Co-Chairs are Dr. Douglas T. Dieterich (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, USA), Dr. Mario U. Mondelli (University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy), and Dr. Mark R. Nelson (Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London, England).

EACS will run its summer courses in Aix-en-Provence, South of France.

A unique opportunity to meet a faculty of professors from throughout Europe, to hear about the latest news during high-level plenaries, to discuss clinical cases or to be taught basic research skills by a team of renowned statisticians and clinicians.

Our new Executive Secretary, Joëlle Verluyten, has joined the team as per December 1. Many have already met her at the Brussels conference in October.  

Sylvie Chatelin is now working in Brussels too. Fiona McBrearty has left the EACS, although she is completing some work this month.

Why is a European HIV testing week needed?
Targeted at populations which are most at risk of HIV, as well as healthcare professionals who should be offering the HIV test, European testing week aims to increase awareness around the importance of HIV testing to decrease the proportion of undiagnosed people living with HIV and reduce late diagnosis. The rationale for testing week came about following input and advice from representatives of HIV organisations across Europe. The group agreed that a pan-European week would be an effective approach to help scale up access to, availability, offering and uptake of HIV testing for risk populations, as well as provide a platform for disseminating a united message.
