EACS has published the Interim Guidance on the Use of Statin Therapy for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in People with HIV. 

This EACS Interim Guidance has been developed to inform the use of statin therapy for the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in people with HIV in Europe. The key recommendations were formed based on the best assessment of the evidence at the time of writing. As new evidence emerges, the guidance will be updated accordingly.

Professor Chloe Orkin based in the UK in the SHARE Collaborative for Health Equity ( https://shareresearch.org.uk/ ) is leading a study called CONSENSUS.

It is a survey for clinicians who are prescribing Cabotegravir and Rilipvirine as treatment for HIV. The aim of the survey is to understand how clinicians define virological failure and discontinuation in the context of CAB+RPV.

The survey will take about 5-8 min to complete.

European Testing Week is a campaign that encourages organisations and institutions — in community, health care and policy institutions — throughout Europe to unite for one week twice a year to increase testing efforts and promote awareness on the benefits of earlier hepatitis and HIV testing. This initiative has progressed since its start in 2013 and has grown to be a widely recognised European event with hundreds of organisations participating every year.

Participants volunteer their own time to organise their European Testing Week activities and create incredible displays of a united effort to increase testing awareness at all organisational levels.

There are a number of ways that organisations can help to increase access to HIV, hepatitis and STI testing, with activities such as: 

• Advocacy initiatives for voluntary, confidential and free HIV, hepatitis, and/or STI testing
• Awareness raising activities for key populations at higher risk
• HIV, hepatitis, and/or STI testing outreach activities for key populations
• Capacity building initiatives (e.g. training of medical students, healthcare staff)
• Policy meetings
• Engagement with opinion makers and the media

The 17th edition of the International Symposium on Neuropsychiatry & HIV will take place in Barcelona in a hybrid format on 31 May- 1 June 2024.  

This Symposium has a practical focus on the diagnosis and treatment of the psychiatric and neuropsychological aspects of people living with HIV.  

The Symposium will include several updated lectures on sleep disorders in people living with HIV, Neuropathogenesis of HIV and Stigma and discrimination.

Call for Expression of Interest in hosting the 21st European AIDS Conference, 2027

The European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) is issuing a call for Expressions of Interest in hosting the 21st European AIDS Conference (#EACS2027) to establish a shortlist of a maximum of three potential venues/destinations. A different host city/venue will be selected for 2027.

On 13 March 15:00-16:00 CET, the European Centre of Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) and Centre of Excellence for Health, Immunity and Infections (CHIP) are hosting a webinar to introduce the updated ECDC-European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (ECDC-EMCDDA) guidance on preventing and controlling infectious diseases among people who inject drugs.

This webinar is open for all to attend, and specifically targeted towards policymakers and public health/social programmers responsible for developing national strategies, policies, and programmes; public health and health professionals working with people who inject drugs; and representatives from civil society organisations and the community.
