New Team
Our new Executive Secretary, Joëlle Verluyten, has joined the team as per December 1. Many have already met her at the Brussels conference in October.
Sylvie Chatelin is now working in Brussels too. Fiona McBrearty has left the EACS, although she is completing some work this month.

EACS supports European HIV testing week
Why is a European HIV testing week needed?
Targeted at populations which are most at risk of HIV, as well as healthcare professionals who should be offering the HIV test, European testing week aims to increase awareness around the importance of HIV testing to decrease the proportion of undiagnosed people living with HIV and reduce late diagnosis. The rationale for testing week came about following input and advice from representatives of HIV organisations across Europe. The group agreed that a pan-European week would be an effective approach to help scale up access to, availability, offering and uptake of HIV testing for risk populations, as well as provide a platform for disseminating a united message.

A successful 14th European AIDS Conference
EACS looks back to a very successful 14th European AIDS Conference with very stimulating research and educational exchanges and the issuing of new guidelines available as an app. We wish to thank all who worked hard to make this congress so productive and all who participated so actively.

EACS Awards
In view of their major contributions and significant achievements in HIV medicine over the past decades, the 2013 EACS Awards for Excellence were granted to two distinguished European personalities, Prof Marie-Louise Newell and Prof Nathan Clumeck during the 14th European AIDS Conference.
